The brief

Situated on the edge of Tulliemet Moor – Scotland’s largest designated conservation area - The Atholl Estate welcomes 1000s of visitors each year to stay and explore their 148,000 acres of land and over forty miles of waymarked trails.

The Estate currently offers a wide range of holiday accommodation for visitors to choose from large stately homes, contemporary apartments to stone brick cottages. What was missing, was the opportunity to celebrate its wide landscape, viewpoints and history in a more intimate setting through luxurious glamping style accommodation.

The family owners had their heart set on finding the perfect Shepherd Hut to sit within the Tulliemet valley. Romancing the idea for a collection of Huts to sit beneath ancient oaks on an old shepherd’s hill track and enjoy the breathtakingly long views across Strathtay and beyond.

Finding the perfect partner

The brief was sent to tender nationally with the criteria focusing on a combination of build quality, value for money and delivery timeframe.

Both Simon and Ward were wonderful to do business with: from the initial phone call through the design and build process and the final on-site fit-out, they could not have been more efficient, accommodating and charming. We will be ordering more!

Unique to you

The selected Huts were the largest of the traditional hut range, designing the bespoke interiors to suit their customers. Both Huts offer a king-size bed chamber, fully-fitted kitchen and ensuite bathroom with hot shower.  Electric underfloor heating was installed throughout each hut as well as a log burning stove for extra evening warmth.

The external aesthetics were boldly painted in blue and terracotta.

Despite supplier delays, hiring low-loader trucks to drive 210 miles and a farm tractor trailer for the Huts to reach their final hillside destination, the two “Wetherlam” traditional huts were delivered to the delighted client 2 weeks ahead of schedule.

Why choOse Cumbrian Shepherd Huts

Going the extra mile is second nature to Simon, Ward and the team.  Personally being on-site for the delivery to help with set up, plumbing and other bespoke commissioned items.

These beautifully built huts have surpassed the clients’ expectations in every way, finished ahead of schedule and were delivered from the Lake District to Scotland with complete ease.
